In a surprising turn of events, Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kahagam (TVK) has emerged as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu's political landscape, offering a fresh alternative to the established Dravidian parties, AIADMK and DMK. With a platform based on social justice and a promise to uphold a dual-language policy, the fledgling party captured attention with its substantial electoral achievements.
The TVK has secured victory in nine seats and is leading in 94 constituencies, according to the latest Electoral Commission of India data. The election marks a notable shift, with voters seemingly turning towards political reform and denouncing corruption and dynastic politics. K Annamalai of BJP acknowledged the people’s verdict as a demand for new political dynamics.
TVK's founder, Vijay, supported by notable party members, has articulated a clear vision for non-Dravidian policies to address the electoral vacuum. Vijay's father, S A Chandrasekhar, expressed his pride in his son's desire to contribute positively to society, marking the beginning of a potentially new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics.
