According to Ben Hodgkinson, Red Bull Ford Powertrains technical director, Ford plays a significant role in engine development, with contributions in expertise and sourcing. The partnership enhances Red Bull’s manufacturing and component acquisition capabilities.
Red Bull Racing has clarified the nature of its collaboration with Ford, insisting it goes beyond mere marketing. Despite suggestions of the partnership being just a branding effort, Red Bull and Ford are indeed working closely, according to Ben Hodgkinson, technical director of Red Bull Ford Powertrains.
Ford has actively contributed to filling crucial personnel gaps and employing its state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, which significantly aids Red Bull's engine development at their Milton Keynes facility. "It's absolutely fair to call it a partnership," emphasized Hodgkinson.
The technical director highlighted Ford's advanced 3D manufacturing capabilities and substantial buyer influence, which has greatly benefited Red Bull in component sourcing. This collaboration signifies a profound technical partnership rather than a superficial association.
