Kimi Antonelli's Historic Triumph at Monaco
Kimi Antonelli clinched a dramatic victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, marking his fifth win of the season. Despite late-race disruptions, the 19-year-old remained composed, eventually securing the title and becoming the youngest winner at Monaco. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton followed, maintaining his consistent performance.
Kimi Antonelli, the current leader of the Formula One championship, maintained his calm under pressure to win the challenging Monaco Grand Prix, marking his fifth victory this season. The 19-year-old Italian, driving for Mercedes, started from pole position and gained an early lead before a late red flag disrupted the race due to a crumbling track surface caused by a crash involving Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
Following a 40-minute delay for repairs, the race resumed with a standing start. Antonelli, unaffected by the interruption, secured his place in history as the youngest winner of the iconic race. Meanwhile, Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton finished as runner-up for the second consecutive Grand Prix, while Red Bull's Isack Hadjar took a provisional third place, pending investigations into multiple infringements by drivers.
Hamilton matched the late Ayrton Senna's record of eight Monaco podiums and overtook Antonelli's teammate George Russell to move into second place in the standings, 66 points behind Antonelli. Reflecting on his performance, Antonelli expressed satisfaction with the weekend, emphasizing his team's pace and his newfound confidence. This victory marks a stark contrast to his debut last year, where he finished last.
