Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan interacted with student delegates from Chhattisgarh in New Delhi on Thursday under the Yuva Sangam Phase VI programme. The event took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, where students shared their experiences from their ongoing educational and cultural visit to the national capital.
Speaking to the delegates, Pradhan said Yuva Sangam gives young people an opportunity to discover India through real-life experiences rather than relying only on textbooks. He noted that travelling to different parts of the country helps students understand India's diversity, development journey, and cultural richness in a more meaningful way. According to him, interactions between youth from different states help strengthen the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and build lasting connections among future generations.
Minister Urges Youth to Contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047
During the interaction, the minister encouraged students to actively participate in India's growth story. He called upon them to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through innovation, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and social responsibility. He also highlighted the opportunities available under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and urged students to make full use of them while shaping their careers and aspirations.
Pradhan also spoke about the value of experiential learning, saying that exposure to different cultures and environments helps broaden perspectives and promotes mutual understanding. He encouraged participants to carry forward the lessons and experiences gained during the programme into their personal and professional lives.
Cultural Exposure and National Integration at the Core of the Programme
Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Dr. Vineet Joshi, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in shaping well-rounded individuals. He said journeys like Yuva Sangam help young people develop adaptability, teamwork, communication skills, and confidence, qualities that remain valuable far beyond academic settings.
The student delegates shared their reflections on their visit to Delhi and engaged in an interactive discussion with the minister. A short film highlighting Yuva Sangam Phase VI was screened during the programme, showcasing the students' experiences, interactions, and cultural exchanges throughout the journey.
The delegation from Chhattisgarh is being led by IIT Bhilai and hosted by IIT Delhi from June 8 to June 13. During their stay, students have visited major institutions, developmental projects, and landmarks across Delhi. These visits have provided first-hand insights into governance, digital services, public administration, urban development, and India's democratic institutions.
Yuva Sangam Phase VI has been launched by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. The programme brings together youth aged 18 to 30 from 22 paired States and Union Territories, creating opportunities for cultural appreciation, mutual respect, and stronger emotional connections among young Indians.
