NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte engaged in a crucial conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday to address the devastating Russian attacks on Ukraine, which have triggered widespread power outages.
Rutte expressed his commitment to supporting Ukraine during these challenging times, emphasizing ongoing efforts to secure the crucial assistance needed for Ukraine's defense and ultimately achieving a lasting peace. During the call, Zelenskiy highlighted the serious challenges posed by recent Russian strikes and the necessity of strengthening Ukraine's air defenses.
In a statement on Telegram, Zelenskiy conveyed hope that supplies from European allies via the PURL program would increase by January. He also noted significant progress in diplomatic efforts with the United States and Europe to resolve the nearly four-year-old conflict, pledging to maintain diplomatic momentum.
