The counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2026 is set to take place on May 4, with an emphasis on security and transparency.
A three-tier security system will be implemented at counting centres, as announced by Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik. At the first tier, a secure perimeter of 100 metres around each centre will restrict access to authorized personnel only.
The second tier will see the State Armed Police regulating entry at the gates, with prohibitions on unauthorized devices, while the innermost third tier, managed by the Central Armed Police Forces, will ensure strict access control to prevent unauthorized entry.
