Tamil Nadu 2026 Assembly Votes Counting: Robust Security Measures Implemented

On May 4, votes for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2026 will be counted under stringent security. A three-tier security system has been established, with entry restricted to authorized personnel. A QR code-based Photo ID system is introduced to prevent unauthorized access, ensuring a transparent counting process.

The counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2026 is set to take place on May 4, with an emphasis on security and transparency.

A three-tier security system will be implemented at counting centres, as announced by Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik. At the first tier, a secure perimeter of 100 metres around each centre will restrict access to authorized personnel only.

The second tier will see the State Armed Police regulating entry at the gates, with prohibitions on unauthorized devices, while the innermost third tier, managed by the Central Armed Police Forces, will ensure strict access control to prevent unauthorized entry. A new QR code-based Photo ID system aims to enhance security further.
