Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, officially filed his nomination as the BJP candidate for the Jalukbari constituency on Friday. The high-profile event saw him joined by his family and significant party figures such as MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi.
Sarma, who has represented Jalukbari since 2001, is seeking to retain his seat in the approaching polls scheduled for April 9. His bid for a sixth consecutive term underscores his political prominence in the region.
The filing was marked by a significant public show as the Chief Minister led a grand procession to the Kamrup (Metropolitan) District Election Office to submit his nomination papers.
