Manchester United reported financial losses amounting to £113.2 million (USD 148 million) for the fiscal year ending June 30, despite achieving record revenues of £661.8 million (USD 866 million). The Premier League club attributed the losses partly to increased spending on players.
This fiscal report follows a partial acquisition by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, whose £1.3 billion (USD 1.6 billion) investment secured him a 27.7% stake in the club. The club emphasized its commitment to financial sustainability amidst these challenges, noting the implementation of cost-saving measures including the reduction of around 250 staff roles.
Despite the significant losses, Manchester United remains compliant with the financial regulations set by both the Premier League and the UEFA. New Chief Executive Omar Berrada, formerly of Manchester City, is spearheading efforts to streamline operations and direct resources towards enhancing on-pitch performance.
