Drone Scare Over Helsinki: Normalcy Restored
Finland declared the skies above its capital free from threat after suspected drone activity. Authorities deployed fighter jets and services in response but soon lifted the alert. Traffic at Helsinki airport resumed after the suspension, and enhanced surveillance remains in place to ensure safety.
Finland announced on Friday that the suspected drone activity over its capital region no longer posed a threat, signaling a return to normalcy.
The defense forces had earlier deployed fighter jets and emergency services following reports of drone sightings, as covered by public broadcaster Yle.
Traffic at Helsinki's airport, which had been temporarily halted, resumed after a three-hour pause. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo assured the public that enhanced surveillance measures remain in place, urging citizens to stay informed through official bulletins.
