FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed his plans to seek re-election for a fourth term as the head of the world's soccer governing body. The announcement was made during the closing of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, just weeks ahead of the World Cup.
Infantino, who assumed office in 2016 after succeeding Sepp Blatter, has been at the forefront of expanding FIFA competitions. His tenure has overseen significant changes, including increasing the number of teams in both the men's and women's World Cups.
Despite encountering criticism over high ticket prices and some controversial decisions, Infantino has garnered support from CONMEBOL, which publicly endorsed his potential re-election bid, emphasizing a willingness to back him for another term.
