In an unprecedented decision, the Election Commission (EC) has ordered a fresh election across all 285 polling stations in West Bengal's Falta Assembly due to concerns over the subversion of the democratic process.
This re-election is set for May 21, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 24, marking an unusual intervention by the electoral body.
Such an extensive re-election is rare, as illustrated by the recent EC's directive for a partial re-election in 15 booths across two other Assembly seats, Diamond Harbour and Magarhat Paschim.
