The Election Commission has mandated a rigorous zero-tolerance policy to tackle incidents of post-poll violence in West Bengal. In response to recent casualties and property destruction, the EC has directed Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala, DGP Siddh Nath Gupta, and central armed police forces to ensure peace and stability.
The directive emphasizes swift and decisive action against any acts of violence, stating that the tolerance threshold is nil regardless of the perpetrators. The EC insists that all relevant authorities enforce these measures firmly to uphold public order.
To manage the situation effectively, the EC has stressed the importance of adequate deployment and seamless coordination between state administration and central armed police forces. This strategy aims to preempt any attempts to disturb the peace in the region.
